What do you do here?
The #1 thing we do at Inky's is refill printer cartridges. We can refill
nearly any cartridge for about half the price of buying a new name-brand
one. But that's just part of the story! We know what you really want to
do is print, so in addition to refilling cartridges, our store offers a
variety of replacement cartridges including pre-filled cartridges,
non-name-brand cartridges, as well as brand new name brand ones as well.
In addition, we also offer a wide variety of replacement laser toner
cartridges at a great savings over most retail stores.
Can my cartridge be refilled?
At Inky's we can refill nearly any inkjet cartridge you can name.
However, there are some printer manufacturers who install chips on their
cartridges to prevent refilling. To find out for sure if your cartridge
can be refilled, just call, email or visit us and we'll be happy to let
you know. If you're looking at purchasing a new printer, and you want to
be able to refill your cartridges, stop in and pick our brains - we're
happy to discuss the ins and outs of the various printers on the market.
You may also wonder if we refill laser cartridges. Because of quality
concerns, we don't refill laser cartridges in our service center. We've
found that using professionally made replacement cartridges offers far
superior quality and longevity compared to refilled laser cartridges.
Do refilled cartridges explode?
Definitely not! Our cartridges also don't leak - leaking occurs when too
much ink is put into a cartridge and the foam inside can no longer hold
it. Our technicians always weigh the cartridge after refilling to make
sure it has exactly the right amount of ink.
Do I have an Inkjet or Laser cartridge?
Like most of our customers, you just want to be able to print without
breaking the bank right? At Inky's you can trust us to be the experts
and to know all the technical mumbo-jumbo so you don't have to. However,
if you're unsure whether your cartridge is an inkjet or a laser toner
cartridge and you'd like to know, we have an easy way for you to tell.
If the cartridge is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, its
almost certainly an inkjet. Most inkjet cartridges are only a few inches
large. Most laser toner cartridges however, are about a foot long. If
you're still not sure, bring it by and we'll happily tell you more than
you ever wanted to know about your cartridge!
Will refilling void my warranty?
No!
No company, by law in Canada and the U.S, can sell a product and then
force the customer to buy further products from them in order to ensure
their warranty remains valid. This is a practice referred to as "tied
selling" and is forbidden by the Competition Act in Canada (Section 77).
The only valid way that a company could require you to use only brand
name cartridges would be to supply you with all the cartridges you need
at no charge for the duration of the warranty (and they are not about to
do this).
If you look closely at the warranty of any printer, you'll see that
damage resulting from the use of a non-name-brand cartridge is not
covered by the warranty, but in no way does using refilled cartridges
void the entire warranty.
Are the colors the same with a refill?
We purchase our inks only from industry leading ink manufacturers to
ensure we're getting the highest quality of ink for our refills. You
won't find any "universal" inks here, we use over 60 different ink
formulations in order to get the correct colors and qualities for each
cartridge. In addition, our inks are comparable to the printer
manufacturer's inks in terms of fade resistance and colorfastness. If
you have any questions about the inks we use, please use the Support
link to ask, our team will get back to you with more detail than you
could possibly want.
Will refilling damage my printer?
Definitely not! Our inks and refilling procedures have been tried and
tested by our expert Research & Development team to ensure they won't
cause any problems for the printer. Besides that we've successfully
refilled over 100,000 cartridges, so our system has been tested many
times over.
If at some point you suspect that a cartridge may have damaged your
printer, please let us know and we'll be happy to work with you to
resolve any issues you're experiencing.
How long will a refilled cartridge last?
Since we refill the cartridge with the same amount of ink that the
cartridge originally held (sometimes
more) it should last at least as long as a new cartridge. If you're
going to be storing your cartridge for any period of time before using
them though, be sure to tell our technicians when you're having them
refilled. We have special packaging procedures we can use for cartridges
that aren't going to be used right away to ensure you the longest
possible shelf life.
What guarantee do I have that it will work?
Ours! We guarantee all our services and products 100%. If you have any
trouble with a refilled or replacement cartridge we're happy to fix it,
replace it, return it... whatever we need to do to get you printing
again. If you have troubles, please let us know and we'll be happy to
help.
How many times can I refill my cartridge?
This is a tricky question, because so much depends on you. Cartridges
that are well cared for can generally be filled 3-5 times before they
need to be replaced. The type of cartridge also makes a big difference;
some will only accept 1-2 refills, while others have been known to take
more than 20! Please take a minute to check out our Cartridge Care Tips
so you can get the best value out of your cartridge.
What printer should I buy?
Printers are larger investments than they seem at first. Printers can
retail for as little as $40, so they can seem pretty inexpensive.
However, the hidden cost of a printer is in its cartridges - some
cartridges cost upwards of $40 each, and hold only a few milliliters of
ink!
If you're in the market for a new printer, why not give us a call, or stop by for a visit. We're happy to talk about printers all day and night, and we can help you select the best printer to meet your needs.
